Air2030: Radar sensors of the Air Force: Fourth system in operation after modernisation
The radar sensors of the air surveillance and central dispatching system of the Swiss Air Force have been modernised. On 20 March 2025, armasuisse handed over the fourth and last completely rebuilt system of the Armed Forces for operational deployment. The conversion, which is being carried out as part of the “Radar” project, took place step by step at each location. The modernisation of the radar sensors was approved in the 2016 armament programme.
Federal Council approves Switzerland's participation in the NSPA PATRIOT Support Partnership
To strengthen security and increase the availability of spare parts for ground-based air defence, the Federal Council has approved Switzerland's participation in the NATO Support and Procurement Agency Patriot Support Partnership (NSPA PATRIOT SP). The partnership also includes maintenance, ammunition monitoring, technical, procurement, training and transportation support.
Participation in Singapore Defence Technology Summit 2025
From 18 to 20 March 2025, a delegation from the Federal Office for Defence Procurement armasuisse led by Deputy National Armaments Director Thomas Rothacher will attend the “Singapore Defence Technology Summit 2025”. The conference will raise the topic of how modern defence technologies and partnerships can contribute to overcoming the challenges of an uncertain future. In addition, Ng Chad-Son, Chief Executive of the Singaporean Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), will sign the Memorandum of Understanding on the increased defence technology cooperation between Switzerland and Singapore, which the Federal Council approved on 14 March.
